In new Caterhams for road use, BMW 1 Series differentials have been used since around 2010.
These differentials typically come either without a differential lock or with a Caterham/TITAN limited-slip differential. The early limited-slip differentials can encounter issues because the carbon laminations wear out or break too quickly. We can repair these differentials with new, improved metal parts or install a maintenance-free Quaife ATB or WESMO differential. Retrofitting these locks into BMW differentials that were originally supplied without a lock is also straightforward.
For customers who use their Caterham primarily on racetracks or with sequential gearboxes, we offer a conversion from BMW differentials to Caterham/Ford 7" differentials, as these are better suited for high-performance applications.
